DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY CORROSION MAPPING

Corrosion mapping via digital radiography involves exposing the examined asset to ionizing radiation and analyzing the resulting image. The image is captured by a digital detector and then analyzed using dedicated software. Following PN-EN ISO 20769-1:2018-12 and PN-EN ISO 20769-2:2018-12 standards, this method allows for the precise assessment of corrosion losses both on the outside and inside of the tested assets. The inspection can be performed without removing insulation and on operating equipment.

Applications

Corrosion mapping using digital radiography techniques is conducted on steel pipes, but its application extends to other cylindrical components, such as boiler drums and pressure vessels, for service-related damage such as pitting corrosion, general corrosion, and erosion. The method enables testing of operating installations without the need to remove insulation or drain the pipelines.

The obtained results allow for planning maintenance work in advance and estimating safe operating periods for the infrastructure.
